Current position: Intermediate Apprentice in Trowel Occupations - Brick/Blocklaying with Cornwall Community Action Network, a social enterprise company that helps young people get started in work, build their skills, and move on to further employment.
Types of Employment/Apprenticeship I'm looking for, and what I hope to get from it:
I would like to be able to work on construction sites in order to use the skills that I have gained so far on my Apprenticeship. I am looking forward to furthering these skills with another employer and widening my experience.
What I can offer an employer:
I am a hard worker and will make every effort to achieve what is asked of me. I am well motivated and want to achieve my Apprenticeship and progress in the future. I have proved that I am a good timekeeper and have a good attendance record.
Skills and abilities (what I've learnt, what I can do):
I can mix mortar to the correct ratios, and have laid bricks and blocks to the line accurately. I have completed my early training plan which consists of 7 different types of wall. I have a good awareness of health and safety requirements and have passed my CSCS test and am awaiting the Trainee card.
General Employment Skills (attitude, commitment, personal qualities, timekeeping, reliability etc.):
I am a good communicator and am comfortable working in a team but would enjoy any task that I needed to take sole responsibility for. I have been able to demonstrate good timekeeping and attendance over a period of time and with other employers. I have worked in a public house for approx. 9 months and this developed my people skills as well as my ability to process information and calculations whilst under pressure. I have worked for a vehicle rental company so can appreciate the value of clean and tidy working and customer relations.
Work Experience (any work done, employment, projects/training, voluntary work, where):
The Oxford Inn Redruth: Bar work; MY Motors Redruth: Body work and wheel refurbishment; PTS Truro: Ware house work, stock taking, etc.
Qualifications, Units & Certificates achieved:
CSCS test completed and passed, Level 1 Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication.
I have also completed six units of my diploma – Know how to carry out safe working practices in construction; Carry out safe working practices in construction; Knowledge of building methods and construction technology; Building methods and construction technology; Know how to interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures; Interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures.
