Current position: Intermediate Apprentice in Carpentry and Joinery with Cornwall Community Action Network, a social enterprise company that helps young people get started in work, build their skills and move on to further employment.

Types of Employment/Apprenticeship I'm looking for, and what I hope to get from it:

I have demonstrated that I have good aptitude for Carpentry. I enjoy the work and have been able to complete all the tasks given to me with accuracy and within an acceptable timescale. I would like to work on building sites but have no preference to size of organisation.

What I can offer an employer:

I am making excellent progress towards completing my Apprenticeship and gaining skills at a good pace. I am an excellent timekeeper and my attendance record is exemplary. I am well motivated and have always been interested in Carpentry. I have a good understanding of health and safety and equal opportunities. I have site experience and have undertaken a variety of tasks.

Skills and abilities (what I've learnt, what I can do):

I have erected stud walls, made basic wood joints to a good standard, fitted door handles and mortice locks. I have hung internal doors. I have fitted skirting and architrave, plasterboard, floor boards. My Assessor has told me that I have excellent hand skills when working with wood.

General Employment Skills (attitude, commitment, personal qualities, timekeeping, reliability etc.):

I have a very positive attitude and strong work ethic. I enjoy working with a team but can also take
responsibility for my own work.

Work Experience (any work done, employment, projects/training, voluntary work, where):

In March 2012 I gained work experience at BAM Construction on the Health and Wellbeing Construction Project with RCHT.  I have been part of a variety of projects including work undertaken for the Camborne Deaf Centre, building a new training room at Cardrew Industrial Site, The Cornish Leaf and Coil Club and various other projects. I have worked as a Painter and Decorator over a 12 month period, as work became available. I have also done 6 months Carpentry and achieved my level 1 City and Guilds. I have some experience of dry lining and at School I did work experience with PWG Plumbing Services which gave me experience on site. I have also helped my family in a car body repair centre.
